Summer and Harvest Sale

This is a great opportunity which Oval Learning schools are already taking part in.

Project aim: for children to sell fruit and vegetables grown at school at Borough Market. All money raised on the day is donated to charity The Felix Project, who provide surplus food to charities and community groups who then transform it into nutritious meals for vulnerable people. It is a great opportunity for children to learn how to grow produce from seed, to use their enterprise skills on sale day at the historic Borough Market and help a good cause. The project will kick off in April and elements include:

  • An assembly delivered by School Food Matters to introduce the project, inform children about food surplus and the work of The Felix Project (late March/early April 2023
  • Gardening and market-trader training at Borough Market for a small group of your students (end of April 2023
  • A site visit to your school by gardening experts to see how your growing is going (June or July 2023)
  • Sale day at Borough Market (summer sale in July 2023, harvest sale in October 2023
